Visit the Vendée

Our 4-star campsite in the Vendée is located in Talmont Saint Hilaire, between Les Sables-d’Olonnes and Jard-sur-Mer.
The Vendée has a coastline of 250 km, including 140 km of fine sandy beaches bordered by state forests.

Discover the Vendée coastline

This magnificent coastline (beaches and wild coast) offers sumptuous landscapes on the Atlantic coast.
Indeed, thanks to the absence of unevenness, the sky which merges with the sea, whatever the weather, gives a sumptuous spectacle.
The Vendée is also known as the “Côte de Lumière” (Coast of Light) thanks to its sunshine which is as intense as that of the Mediterranean regions.
It is the destination par excellence for families, easy to reach, combining the joys of the sea with the diversity of the centres of interest for young and old.

Culture and heritage

Prehistoric enthusiasts can visit Neolithic sites such as the menhir of Caesar’s camp at Avrillé, the Cous complex at Bazoges-en-Pareds and the Frébouchère dolmen at Le Bernard. The Vendée, which corresponds to the territory of the former Bas Poitou, is also dotted with monuments built in the Middle Ages and during the Renaissance: Marais abbey in Maillezais, Grammont priory in Saint-Prouant, Tour Mélusine in Vouvant, Talmont castle, Apremont castle, Luçon cathedral… Discovering the Vendée also means getting lost in the narrow streets of its towns of character, which have a very beautiful heritage: Mallièvre, Apremont, Pouzauges, Faymoreau, Nieul-sur-l’Autise, Foussais-Payré, Mouchamps…

Sea and beaches of the Vendée

It is difficult to choose which of the Vendée’s beaches deserve a special mention. The Grande Plage in Les Sables-d’Olonne, which is very popular with families, is a must. It is very well equipped with a water sports centre, sanitary facilities, a beach volleyball court, restaurants, car parks, mattress hire and access for people with reduced mobility. The Demoiselles beach in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez is attractive because of its dunes and its proximity to the town centre. If you prefer beaches that are a little wilder, head for the Veillon beach in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire, with its swimming area and the area reserved for water sports. Other beautiful sandy beaches can be found in resorts such as Jard-sur-Mer (Plage de la Mine), Saint-Gilles-Croix de Vie (Plage du Jaunay), La Barre-de-Mont (Plage de la Bergère) and La Tranche-sur-Mer (Plage de la Terrière, plage de la Belle Henriette). If you like the peace and quiet of the coves nestling between the cliffs, head for the Ile d’Yeu (Plage de la Belle Maison, Plage des Sioux) or Noirmoutier (Plage de l’Anse Rouge).
